Fabric Spec
Item:
Specify an acoustically suitable fabric material to be
used at walls and ceiling to conceal acoustic materials, speakers, subwoofers,
etc.
Relevance:
Fabric is typically needed to conceal the audio hardware (front speakers,
surround speakers, subwoofers) and the acoustic devices (absorbers,
diffusors, pressure traps,
flexural devices etc.) mounted to the face of the wall and ceiling.
Fabric thus exerts a critical influence on both the visual and acoustic
performance of the room, and requires careful selection and qualification.
Keith Yates Design Group has developed comprehensive in-house fabric
testing facilities, and a large database of test results from many
leading textile manufacturers (Guilford, Knoll, ArcCom, Maharam, Acoustone,
Acoustic Innovations, etc.).
Form: Memo and sample of tested and
approved fabric to Owner and architect.
